SZA Biography

Solana Rowe, better known as SZA, released the first album Ctrl in June 2017, and in March 2018 it went platinum. This was followed by a solo world tour, as well as joint tracks with Childish Gambino (hit This is America) and Kendrick Lamar (All The Stars), co-writing Feeling Myself with Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé and Consideration from Rihanna's latest album. Not a bad start for an aspiring singer. Let's figure out why Solana is a strong solo artist, whose work is worth getting to know.

SZA started six years ago by recording songs in the basement of their own home. Once her friend showed Solana's recording to the president of the independent label Top Dawg Entertainment Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, and he soon signed a contract with the singer. It was a success - Solana joined the caste of Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q.

In her compositions, SZA is extremely frank - she shares emotions, experiences shows weaknesses, and retells her experiences. So, in the Drew Barrymore track, she admits that she does not want to shave her legs, contrary to beauty standards, and in Supermodel she says that she feels that her appearance does not correspond to ideals.

Her role models are Saudi Arabians who have won the right to drive, mothers who continue to struggle to reunite with their children following the U.S. Migrant Act, and black women entrepreneurs who have become America's fastest-growing economic power despite racial and gender discrimination.

Solana is equally sensitive to her image. “I love clothes that reflect my emotions,” says the singer. If SZA is in yellow, then she is happy, in red she is depressed, and in purple, she is full of inspiration and ready to create. By the way, the pale pink Versace dress, which Solana chose for the Costume Institute ball, also carried a certain message: "I felt the feeling of love and gratitude that I wanted to give to everyone around."

SZA is also an environmental activist and recently launched a collection of sweatshirts with Champion to support organizations that clean up the ocean from plastic.

SZA could not have imagined that it would become the owner of a platinum album, five Grammy nominations, and be one of the favorite singers of Beyoncé and Barack Obama. Solana is not going to stop and is already preparing her second album for release. There is no doubt that he will become successful.
