Schoolboy Q: Biography and music career

Schoolboy Q is a Los Angeles rapper, TDE label signer, and Black Hippy member along with Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul. He received the greatest fame after the album "Oxymoron," which became one of the most successful releases of 2014.

Skulboy started rapping at school, but he only took a serious approach in 2006 when Punch discovered him from TDE. In 2008, Kew released the first mixtape "Schoolboy Turned Hustla," and in 2009, he signed a contract with Top Dawg and released the second teip "Gangsta & Soul." After careful preparation in 2011, his first studio album "Setbacks" was released, which was positively received by the public. In 2012, he released the album "Habits & Contradictions," reinforcing the success of an independent artist. After the success of his colleague Kendrick, the Interscope label offered a contract to Schoolboy too. 

In 2014, he released his third studio album, "Oxymoron," selling over 350,000 copies and receiving several Grammy nominations.


Schoolboy Q's father was a military man, so Q was born at an army base in Wiesbaden, Germany;

At 12, Kew joined the 52 Hoover Gangster Crips gang and sold drugs (mainly oxycontin). In 2007, he also went to prison for six months;

Schoolboy Q always spells the letter "H" in capital letters, because it stands for HiiiPower (the concept of the band Black Hippy), Hippy (the name of his group), Hoover (the street he grew up on), Heaven & Hell (heaven and hell, that is, his a life);

At school and college, he played American football, and quite successfully, until he flew out of the school;

In 2010, Quincy had a daughter, Joy Hanley, who appears in several of his tracks and videos, as well as on the cover of the album "Oxymoron";

Schoolboy Q is inspired by the music of Nas, Biggie, Mobb Deep, Wu-Tang Clan, Kurupt, 2Pac, Diddy in general and Jay-Z with 50 Cent - in terms of their own style
