Midnight Oil To Return To 'Beds Are Burning' Clip Location For Last-ever Outback Show

Australian rock royalty Midnight Oil have just been announced as headliners for Broken Hill's August Mundi Mundi Bash, rounding out a stellar bill of local artices.

The band will join other legacy Australian acts Jimmy Barnes and Missy Higgins for Outback NSW's Biggest Ever live music event.

The festival takes place on the striking red terrain of the Mundi Mundi Plains, an outback landscape synonymous with the band and their rock anthems.

The music video of their seminal rock anthem Beds Are Burning was shot on the Mundi Mundi Plains.

Ahead of the performance, The Oil's guitarist and keyboardist Jim Moginie described his excitement to return to the Plains, stating, "Very much looking forward to revisiting the Mundi Mundi plains, where the ‘Beds are Burning‘ clip was shot, for this 12 volt Woodstock on the edge of Mad Max’s wasteland, and playing for a special gathering of pilgrims listening to new music, and the soundtracks of their youth under an endless Australian night sky”.

The festival takes place over three days across the 18th to the 20th of august, following Midnight Oil's final ever North American and European tour across June and July. It is the last time for Aussie fans to see the legendary rock outfit no home soil and one of the only chances ever to see them on the red dirt of the Outback.

The Midnight Oil legacy is one of the strongest in Australian music history, spanning five decades, 13 albums, 47 singles and 20 million album sales.

“While Midnight Oil’s 2019 Birdsville Big Red Bash remains a once-in-a-lifetime coup for many festival-goers, the band’s upcoming Mundi Mundi Bash performance is sure to be an equally special and memorable bucket list experience," said event organiser Greg Donovan.

"With this being the final tour by Midnight Oil, we feel honoured to be hosting them in such a unique and iconic outback location that befits their spirit, legacy and connection to Australia. Midnight Oil are a true national treasure, and we should grab and cherish every opportunity we have to see them live!”
