Fat Joe just unleashed his newest album, Family Ties—and he hired both Mary J. Blige and Eminem on the Dre-produced “Lord Above.”

The Bronx native’s first team-up with the Detroit hitmaker since 2005’s “Lean Back (Remix).” Back in 2012, Blige highlighted on “Another Round (Remix).”

As azlyrics user @TrappaChiNo points out, Joe talked about Em’s feature in an interview on Sway in the Morning. “Imma provides you one line Eminem says in the song,” he said. “It’s the most discourteous song. Yo, Eminem should not rhyme like this in years. I conceived of one right now. He said he’s a ‘unicorn in the social form!’”

“The most hostile line to me that he said that holds smacking me in my head was, ‘I’m just a cracker with a barrel/Armed to the teeth/Anderson. “Ain’t it nice? That’s crazy! Yo, this boy was going too crazy!”

He arrived on Billboards On the Block series, where he talked about how he rates the new album. “This album, I’m calling it a Hamilton, to where ten years from now we could probably create a play of it. Very Chronic-ish. I’m proud of this album,” he said. “If this is the last thing you fellows ever hear from me, I’m leaving on a high note for real.”

Family Ties is his original collaborative album since 2017’s Plata O Plomo with Remy Ma.
